Early on Rex was lucky to be around music and musicians. Grandparents, parents, a sister and brother were strumming, blowing through some horn, or in front of a keyboard. Being lucky enough to listen to this and live in and absorb the flavors, history and textures of different countries Rex hopes to pass some on.

"The guitar became a focus about 1980. While I was in North Dakota.“ Building on some books and what a few friends shared he listened to Hendrix and Mozart. Stevie Ray Vaughn and George Clinton. The Highway Men and The Isley Brothers. “You can never list them all.“

Running sound and what little lights there were for a four piece band, was a fun and learning experience. Playing guitar on the side while putting in the one-nighters and the miles. Through upper mid-west weather no less.

Moving on to Florida after a few years to thaw in the sand it didn't take long before he found great spots to play. Rock clubs or playing in small acoustic groups at Shakespeare Festivals and Renaissance Fairs.

Having been in the Portland area on other occasions, when the chance came to move here in 1996, we made it happen. A good move it was. Great people and culture. Fantastic and vibrant music scene. “I couldnt be happier than to be here now. Im in a great band and the local and regional scene is just getting hotter!“

“Modern original acts or cover bands all have their own appeal and challenges. I enjoy all of it and hope to continue for many years.“

Peace
